A Fond Farewell to Estefan Marti and Femi Tshiela

Written by chupacabra at 20:08 13/9-2019

Our team has been honoured to play host to these two superstars in the last few seasons of their illustrious careers, the high point being Femi Tshiela's lead-out which catapulted Estefan Martí Gibraltar to victory in Season 47's Helsinki GP Mini.

While Femi Tshiela Cameroon could not hope to improve upon his classic victory in the previous season's Nederlandse Tour with the club he called home, the V02maXXers, he was the backbone of our team from the moment he joined us, and on top of picking up several victories and podiums for himself in some of the more hilly Division 2 and 3 races, he bossed the lead-outs as the penultimate rider in what was to become a formidable lead out train thanks to his power, experience, and all-round presence in the peloton.

Despite Estefan Martí's win in Division 1.1's Dublin - Sligeach #45, and high point of his career to date with his home team, Die Tour Phantome, his future was uncertain when he joined us early in Season 47, but this was to change dramatically as he captained the team in Chupacabra's classics campaign for that season.

A third place in Division 3's Rotterdam Classic helped us into Division 2, and Estefan's second place in Grasse - Toulon #47 proved to be a stepping stone for the final classic of that season, the Helsinki GP Mini #39, high point for the team, and cherry-on-the-cake for the 33 year old's trio of results.
